When approaching a design project there are certain necessary steps to ensure your success and minimize frustration.
Step 1:
Define your needs. Make a wish list. What are your requirements? Room sizes and style? How many floors do you want in your home? How big is your lot? Use our free design workbook to help you define these needs.
Step 2:
Once you have a list of your needs and requirements, put them in order of priority. Which are must haves and which are wants but things you're willing to live without?
Step 3:
Create a realistic budget. Conduct a preliminary assessment to determine if your design ideas are feasible financially and technically. If you find that an idea is not feasible, modify or eliminate it and make changes to your priority list accordingly.
Step 4:
After ensuring that your design plans are feasible you can now create preliminary layouts which should take into consideration factors such as climate, orientation, air circulation and terrain which may affect the positioning of the rooms. We provide all clients with a "bubble diagram" which will help us brainstorm your layout quickly and effectively by questioning you on important factors such as; how many people will be living in the home? Or how often will you have guests?
Step 5:
After we help you define your requirements and determine feasibility we will begin to develop a rough sketch of your floor plan and elevations. This initial sketch will show the arrangements of walls, doors, windows and the shape of the roof.
Step 6:
Once the floor plan and elevations are approved by you will move on to create the construction documents. This process includes finishing the plan package and completing most of the design work.
Step 7:
You will then make a final review of the plans to make any last minute corrections before the plan package is duplicated.
3D Visualization
Your 2D drawings may not be enough. Many clients are unable to fully visualize what their home will look like when presented with ordinary 2D design plans. That's when we step it up a notch. We can create basic cardboard models or render photo realistic 3D computer images of your home. In other words, you will be able to visually walk through your home before it is ever built. 3D design can be a powerful tool in helping you see your home in its full beauty and fully understanding the home design project.
